Limiting Service Area Using Driving Zone Restrictions

The Driving Zone option allows you to restrict the plugin’s service area to selected countries or a specific location radius. This setting controls which addresses can be entered in the booking form and displayed in Google’s autosuggestions. It ensures that customers can only choose pickup, drop-off, or waypoint locations within the supported area.

How It Works

When a ‘Driving Zone’ restriction is active, the autosuggestion list is limited to addresses that match the defined area. This restriction can be applied either by country or by radius (based on a central point). Both types of restrictions cannot be used simultaneously — you must decide whether to limit by country or by area radius.

Example 1.

A chauffeur company offers transfers only within Germany. By selecting Germany in the ‘Restriction to country’ field, customers will see Google autosuggestions limited to German addresses only.

Example 2.

A company based in Paris wants to handle bookings only within a 50 km radius of its office. In this case, the administrator can use the ‘Restriction to area’ option, enter the office address, and set a radius of 50 km. Any location outside this circle will not be available in the booking form autosuggestions.

Configuration

  1. Go to the ‘Booking Forms’ menu and edit an existing form (or create a new one).
  2. Open the ‘Driving Zone’ tab.
  3. For each section (‘Pickup location’, ‘Waypoints’, and ‘Drop-off location’), choose one of the following restriction types:
    • Restriction to country: select up to 5 countries from the list. The ‘- Not set -‘ option removes any restriction.
    • Restriction to area: enter an address (used as the center point) and specify the radius in kilometers or miles. When this option is used, ‘Restriction to country’ should remain set to ‘- Not set -‘.
  4. Save the form.

Good to Know

Restrictions are evaluated separately for pickup, drop-off, and waypoints. If an address does not meet the active restriction, it will not appear in autosuggestions and cannot be selected by the customer.

Pickup and Drop-Off Relation

In the lower section of the ‘Driving Zone’ tab, you can define the relationship between pickup and drop-off restrictions. Two modes are available:

  • Restrictions for both fields (drop-off AND pickup) have to be fulfilled – both pickup and drop-off addresses must lie within the restricted area.
  • Restrictions for at least one field (drop-off OR pickup) have to be fulfilled – only one of the two addresses must be inside the restricted area.

Example 1.

If both pickup and drop-off are restricted to Germany and the first option is selected, customers can only book rides within Germany. If the second option is selected, they can book rides from Germany to another country or vice versa.

Important!

The ‘Restriction to area’ option limits only the pickup, drop-off, or waypoint addresses themselves — not the total route length. A route may exceed the defined radius if both selected points fall inside the allowed area.
