Yahoo SMTP Configuration

To use Yahoo Mail for SMTP mail sending, configure your Yahoo account with an App Password. The App Password is used instead of your regular Yahoo account password when configuring SMTP.

Configure Yahoo SMTP

1. Open Yahoo Account Security

Sign in to your Yahoo account and open the Yahoo Account Security page.

2. Create an App Password

Under ‘External connections’, choose ‘Create app password’ and create a new App Password for your website or booking system.

Use a descriptive name such as WordPress SMTP or Booking System SMTP so you can easily identify it later.

3. Generate and Save the App Password

Yahoo will generate an App Password for the connection. Copy and save it securely, as you will need to enter it in the plugin’s SMTP configuration instead of your regular Yahoo account password.

Good to Know

If Yahoo displays the App Password with spaces for readability, enter it in the plugin’s SMTP settings without spaces.

Yahoo SMTP Settings

Use the following values when configuring SMTP in the plugin:

  • Username: your full Yahoo e-mail address, for example [email protected]
  • Password: the App Password generated by Yahoo
  • Host: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • Port: 465 for SSL or 587 for TLS
  • Secure Connection Type: SSL for port 465 or TLS for port 587

Important!

Do not use your regular Yahoo account password in the SMTP password field. Use the App Password generated specifically for external application access.

Good to Know

Yahoo App Passwords remain active until you remove them from your account. Changing your regular Yahoo account password does not necessarily invalidate an existing App Password.

Good to Know

If you have trouble creating an App Password, try using a browser and device that you regularly use to access your Yahoo account and avoid private or Incognito mode.

After saving the SMTP configuration, use the e-mail testing option available in the plugin, if provided, or create a test booking to verify that notifications are sent correctly.
