Gmail SMTP Configuration
To use Gmail for SMTP mail sending, configure your Google account with 2-Step Verification and create an App Password for the plugin. The App Password is used instead of your regular Google account password when configuring SMTP.
Configure Gmail SMTP
1. Enable 2-Step Verification
Sign in to your Google account and open the Security settings. Enable 2-Step Verification if it is not already enabled.
2. Create an App Password
Once 2-Step Verification is enabled, open the App Passwords section of your Google Account and create a new App Password for your website or booking system.
Use a descriptive name such as WordPress SMTP or Booking System SMTP so you can easily identify it later.
Good to Know
The App Password option may not be available for some Google accounts, for example when it is restricted by a Google Workspace administrator or certain account security settings.
3. Generate and Save the App Password
Google will generate an App Password. Copy and save it securely, as you will need to enter it in the plugin’s SMTP configuration instead of your regular Google account password.
Good to Know
Google may display the App Password grouped with spaces for readability. When entering it in the plugin’s SMTP settings, paste the password without spaces.
Gmail SMTP Settings
Use the following values when configuring SMTP in the plugin:
- Username: your Gmail e-mail address, for example
[email protected] - Password: the App Password generated by Google
- Host:
smtp.gmail.com - Port:
587for TLS or465for SSL - Secure Connection Type: TLS or SSL according to the selected port
Important!
Do not use your regular Google account password in the SMTP password field. Use the App Password generated specifically for SMTP access.
After saving the SMTP configuration, use the e-mail testing option available in the plugin, if provided, or create a test booking to verify that notifications are sent correctly.
